A World Without X-rays

Today I went to conduct one of my many Google searches. When I got to the homepage I had to pause and admire the Google logo, which was turned into an x-ray.  Google was celebrating the 115th anniversary of the discovery of x-rays. It was hard for me to believe that the process of taking an x-ray had only been founded 115 years ago. I could not image a medical environment that did not have x-rays to reference.  As a current student of medical illustration I have been taught to use x-rays as a reference for projects.  X-rays allow for the placement of bones in living beings to be seen, as opposed to using cadavers for reference. With our ever advancing technology we now have MRIs and CT scans. Who knows what other medical imaging will be discovered in the future.

Google’s logo for today:
